About Me

A few pieces of news and something of an apology....
1) My official website is up and running - w w w . n a t a l i e p a q u e t t e . c o m  I'm still not entirely happy with some of the headers and fonts, but I got tired of fighting with the Wix software.
2) My husband and I are in the process of buying a house.  Yay!  .. sort of.  We put the offer in on June 26th, and because it's a short sale it took FOREVER to get cleared through the seller's bank.  All seemed well and good and we were supposed to close on November 14th - but then we found out that the sellers are in bankruptcy, so everything has to go to the bankruptcy court and a judge/trustee have to "approve" the sale.  .. so even though we've forked out nearly $1000 for the inspection, mortgage application fees, and moving supplies, there's the tiniest chance we won't get this place.  ... sigh.
So any prayers/faerie wishes/happy thoughts/crossed fingers would be much appreciated.  I am currently living out of boxes and fearful that we won't get the keys before the end of the year, in which case I will have to pay for a storage unit, move ALL OF MY SHIT TWICE, and live with my parents for awhile.  Ungh.
BUT THIS HOUSE HAS A POOL, so you can be darn sure that if we get it, next summer there will be some underwater photos.  Huzzah!
... which leads me to
3) I have been living out of boxes for about 3 weeks now.  All of my photography equipment is packed and I have no room to set up a backdrop anywhere in the apartment.  My creative life is at something of a stand still.  So I apologize to those of you who are waiting for specific reference photos (or are just sad to see me not updating.)

This journal's random Natalie fact: I am part mermaid but I can't open my eyes underwater.  Heh.  .. something I'll need to work on once we have the pool.

Rules

You may use my stock photography for just about anything. But here are my few rules:
1. Anywhere you post artwork or images which use my stock photography (*including as reference for a drawing/painting!), you MUST include my name (Natalie Paquette) or my user name (fetishfaerie) in the image itself, or in the description of the image. If you're posting it outside of dA, find a handy way to do this, please. It would be fantastic if you could link back to me here, or include my email address (fetishfaerie@aol.com) as well.
2. Note me if you use one of my stocks. I want to see what you people can make! That's most of the fun of doing this whole thing, anyway.
3. *Updated September 14th, 2010* If you would like to sell an image you've created using my stock, you have my permission to sell it through dA Prints - UNLESS THE IMAGE IS OTHERWISE MARKED (ie, my stock photos containing models other than myself).  (These images will be clearly marked with "This image may not be used for Commercial Purposes" right in the photo itself.) This applies to all dA artists.  However, if you would like to sell prints or merchandise through other means, you must contact me for permission first.  Also, if your work involving my stock photography is going to be submitted for publication anywhere (magazines, books, etc.) you MUST obtain my permission first.. and please see rule 4.
4. *New as of December 16th, 2007*  If you are using any of my images on commercial products (you must gain my permission first - note or email me for that!), you must provide me with a copy of that product.  For example, if you use my work to make your band's CD cover, a book cover, if something gets printed in a book or magazine, etc. you must send me a copy of it.  Considering that I provide these images for free, it's the only form of compensation I can think of that would be fair.  If you're going to be making money from it, I should get something too.
** If you put artwork using my stock onto items at the dA store, or on products through websites like CafePress, you do not need to send me the product.  I know they make those as-ordered, not in bulk.  HOWEVER, if you wish to be so generous I certainly wouldn't say no. ;)Just contact me for mailing information.  Thanks!

F.A.Q

Q. Can I post artwork I've created using your stock on my personal webpage?
A. Yes! You can post artwork you've created using my stock
ANYWHERE you'd like, so long as you give me proper credit. (Linkage rocks, too.)
Q. Do you do requests?
A. Sort of. I'm always open to suggestions, but I make no promises. Photographers are hard to come by and some things I just can't do by myself. Time is also an issue, and so is interest. But don't be afraid to ask! I may just decide to oblige you.
Q.  Can I use your stock photography as reference for a drawing or painting?
A.  Yes!  I love to see my work used for more traditional purposes.  Please remember to credit me!
Q.  Can I sell an image I've created using your stock?
A.  If it's through dA prints, you already have my permission.  If you'd like to sell it through another website, put it on merchandise, or sell it personally, you must contact me for permission first.  (And please see the new Rule 4.)
Q.  I'd love to buy one of your stock photos as a print!  Why don't you have prints enabled?
A.  Honestly, if you like one of my raw stock images that much, then download or save the full version of it and print it out yourself.  I won't be offended in the slightest.  I feel silly making free stock photos available as prints that people have to pay for (especially since the profit is so low - dA makes most of the money!).  However, if you'd like to purchase some of my work in an effort to support my artistic habits financially - check out my CafePress store!
[link]
Q.  I manipulated one of your photos, and sent you a note - but you haven't left a comment.  Did you look at it yet?
A.  I've probably looked at it, but I didn't have the time at that moment to leave a thought-out comment.  I fall behind very quickly on notes and comments here at dA, and I apologize.  If it's been more than three weeks and I've yet to comment, please send me a note again!
Q.  I make stuff, and I'd love for you to model it.  Would you do that and let me use your photos in my advertisements/on my website?
A.  If you want to send me your product and let me keep it, I'd
be more than happy to show it off.  Just note me and we'll discuss details.

About Me

Thanks, everyone, for the warm wedding wishes. ^-^  Next step on the "I'm an adult" agenda - buying a house!  Hopefully sometime this spring.  We'll see.

I just turned TWENTY-SEVEN.  You can totally round that up to thirty.  wtf?  But I had a great birthday with some girlfriends of mine, just hanging out at my apartment and drinking copious amounts of wine, champagne, and rum.  HUZZAH.  Here's me and my birthday cake:

This journal's random Natalie fact: I'm hypersensitive to ice.  That means that when ice touches my skin for awhile (like 30 seconds) I break out in hives.  Seriously?  SERIOUSLY?  I'm also allergic to aloe vera.  Thank you, Universe.  Your sense of humor is astounding.

About Me

I am officially married. ^-^  HUZZAH!  We got a judge to come over to our house and got hitched in the red room, under my vampire portrait.  .. lol  Yeah, seriously.  But sorry, no decent photos.  (Phil was being a goober.)  Our official wedding date is June 21st - the summer solstice.  I figured it would be an easy date to remember!  On June 26th, we had a party for friends and family in my parents' backyard... with an OCEAN THEME.  I had the best cake ever.  For serious.

Thank you to :iconfresh-eye-coffee: for taking photos. <3

I'm loving married life.  .. it's really not that much different than engaged life, or dating life...  Phil and I just... are.  There really aren't words to describe it.  (Although I have both angsty and gagworthingly-sweet poetry to try and prove otherwise!)  But being able to flash my wedding band (black stainless steel, btw) when people in public are getting too friendly?  Priceless.  And I love to call him "Husband".

PS - I kept my own name.

This journal's random Natalie fact: I am addicted to old junk.  It's partly my grandma Jean's fault, partly my own pirating ways.  For example - last weekend I nearly ran my car off the road turning around while screaming, "ESTATE SALE!" .. my friend Lauren took it all in stride.  I bought a broken frame, a stack of old black and white photos circa WWII, a new tripod, a thimble, some old crusty glass bottles, two matching stone hawk statues (one has a broken beak!).. and got a free broken camera thrown in because apparently the old guy realized I love junk.

About Me

The wedding is approaching!  .. still not sure what day it'll actually happen, but sometime before the 26th.  (We're picking up the marriage license on Tuesday morning and I'm going to try to get a better list of local marriage officiates and available judges.)  I am SO EXCITED about my bachelorette party next weekend - it's going to be a blast!

Speaking of... time to announce the winners of the Pirate Wench contest!

Grand Prize Winner - :iconvinroc:

Vinnie's work has always blown me away, so I was STUNNED and absolutely giddy when he sent me a link to this piece. One day we're going to actually meet up at a convention and I'm going to squish him silly with hugs. ;)

Check out some of Vinnie's other fabulous work (I'm just choosing some favorites, you should really check out his whole gallery) :

Second Place Winner - :icongekkoujin:

I loved this piece so much I had to put it on the back of my invitation.  He got the snarl PERFECTLY!  Arrr!

Some highlights from his beautiful gallery:

This journal's random Natalie fact: The summer before 6th grade, I bruised 3 ribs and almost bit through my lower lip.  Why?  I was pretending to be Catwoman, and I was standing on a coffee table that I imagined was a rooftop.. surveying all of Gotham.  One of the table legs snapped suddenly so the next thing I knew I was on the floor, couldn't breathe, and had blood in my mouth.  The most embarrassing part about it was explaining to the super-hot young paramedic WHY I was on the coffee table in the first place, and he laughed and said his 3 and 5 year olds played Batman and Robin all the time. :P

CONTEST!!!

*DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO SUNDAY MAY 9th!*

Phil and I are getting married on June 25th.  On June 12th, I will be having my bachelorette party (a little early, but I can't do it the weekend before I get hitched because I will be attending a friend's wedding that weekend.  Oh, June weddings!)  The bachelorette party will of course be PIRATE THEMED.  We are getting a limo (our ship!) and will be spending the night drinking champagne from the bottle and eating cupcakes.. and shaking our pirate booties.

SO - I need a sexy pirate wench illustration to use on my invitations.  I could feasibly do this myself, but I'm so swamped with other planning (and other projects), that the thought of squeezing it in makes me sad.  ... but I realized: I could host a contest on deviantArt, considering all of the talented people I know. ;)

Guidelines:

1) The pirate wench should look like me.  .. at least a little.  (Exaggerations are entirely acceptable - the hair can be longer, the boobs can be bigger, whatever.)  If there's color, her hair must be red.  (I also have a layer of black underneath, but that's not necessary.)

2) You must be willing to email me a decent resolution of the file (with no watermark) so I may create my invitations and print them out on my home printer.  I WILL ONLY BE USING THIS IMAGE ON THE INVITATIONS.  I will not be selling them, redistributing them, or claiming them as my own design.  In fact, I would be more than happy to credit the name of the winning artist on the card itself.

3) The image must be an ILLUSTRATION.  Preferably without a background, or only a simple one.  The image will be incorporated with text on the front of the invitation card. I will not be accepting photo-manipulations.

4) THE DEADLINE: is May 5th.---- NOW EXTENDED TO SUNDAY, MAY 9th!!!-----  I realize this is somewhat short notice, but I am also not expecting full-blown paintings.  Simple black and white ink work would be fabulous.

The Prizes
* All images submitted to me will be featured in my next journal, provided that they are uploaded to your deviantART account so I may use thumbnail links.

* THE GRAND PRIZE: A printed copy of the invitation, a 3 month subscription to deviantART, and two signed 4" x 6" prints of any artwork, photograph, or stock image I have on the following deviantART accounts: :iconfetishfaerie-stock: :iconfetishfaerie: :iconfetishfaerie-photos: plus a small feature of your gallery in an upcoming journal entry.
* Second place prize: three signed 4" x 6" prints of any artwork, photograph, or stock image I have on the previously mentioned deviantART accounts, plus a small feature of your gallery in an upcoming journal entry.

Submissions should be uploaded to your deviantArt gallery, and then a note should be sent to me with a link to the artwork.
